For this week’s theme, I chose to use another photo of Baby B. that I took this week. She is 10 months old, and still learning how to get all of her food into her own mouth, which is one of the charming little things to watch babies learn (especially this one, because watching her try to chin that piece of cereal into her mouth when it landed on her shoulder was way too much! lol). So, I thought this was a cute photo that illustrates her perfect little “imperfection.”

3/52: “Inspiration”

This week I had every intention of shooting a great photo of my daughters, as they are my greatest inspiration and the driving force behind my “In Real Life” personal project, however, I changed my mind after I captured this photo of my niece. I felt that this inspirational quote fit the bill perfectly for this week, and as we were shooting her “statement” piece, I was inspired to play with the beautiful window light – so both photos here represent “Inspiration” to me.

Snowflake Macro Love

I. Love. Macro! I especially love snowflake macro. We finally got some beautifully light, fluffy snow here in my neck of the woods, so I rushed outside to see what I could come up with. Here is a little collage I put together, followed by each individual image. :) I’m looking forward to the next fluffy snowfall so that I can try again because I still feel like I haven’t gotten my “perfect” snowflake yet.

This week, the subject for the 52-Week Project is “Life.” I’ve chosen to keep the 52 challenge as closely matched to my “In Real Life” commitment as possible, so this week, I am sharing a glimpse of something I see everyday: my oldest daughter with her nose buried in a book. I don’t think I’ve met another kid who loves to read as much as my daughter – there is no question that her life revolves around her love of books (as is evident by the STACKS she owns). When my little Miss grows up, she says she wants to be an author. :)

1/52: My Resolution Photo, “In Real Life.”

I have been wanting to take on another photography challenge as it’s been a while since I’ve done one, and my answer came when I saw it posted that my lovely and talented friend, Sarah Cornish of My Four Hens Photography, was hosting a 52 Week Project – a photo a week. Her challenge has a new word assignment each week, and this week the word she chose was “Resolution.” Aside from working harder to maintain my blog, another resolution I have is to capture the daily lives of my girls – time is getting away from me, and I don’t have nearly enough images of them “in real life” anymore. So as I begin this challenge, I also begin my resolution to do more lifestyle work of MY family…I’m calling the whole journey “In Real Life.” This is a project I simply HAVE to do for myself. I really don’t think any of my other resolutions have ever been quite so personal to me. I submitted the black & white of my girls doing homework as my first photo of this challenge…the rest are just extras that I want to share. Talk soon.

Look What I Found!

I was going though and cleaning out my file folders and I came across some photos I had nearly forgotten about – one that I took of some gorgeous fall light streaming in through the trees in my Mom’s backyard last September – so lovely; and I also came across some of my macro shots that have faded off into the black hole that is my personal file folder “system.” Haha! Yes, last night I was attempting to get my personal photos reorganized (I’m almost there! yay!) At any rate, I am obsessed with macro, and I am bound and determined to master a snowflake this winter! Now that I say that, I’m going to go back and include some shots from last winter as it was my first winter with my macro lens. These snowflakes are my best so far, but trust me, I plan to get much better…”the perfect snowflake” is not going to elude me forever! ;)

So I’m almost 4 days late, so what. ;) I made the decision that I am going to put more of an effort into trying to blog, so 4 days isn’t really a terrible thing – not like wishing you all a Happy New Year 10 days in or something. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season! I cannot believe how fast 2011 went, and the way my 2012 is shaping up, I’m sure I’m in for another year that will fly by way too damned fast. I’ll go back and fill you in (well, kinda…more like a brief synopsis) on what’s been going on with me and why I’m undergoing so many changes and such, but for now, I am just going to post a picture of our Christmas tree from this year, and a few photos of my beautiful children and amazing boyfriend that I took last month when he came out here to Ohio for a visit. Have an amazing 2012, everyone! I’ll catch up with you soon…

My 2012 Resolution {one of them, anyway}

Okay, so looking around you can see that my entire blog has been wiped clean. I decided that I need to start fresh going into 2012 – mainly because all of my old posts were so. spaced. out. I can admit it, I am not good at keeping up with the blog. Going into the new year, I have made a resolution to turn things around over here and maintain my little corner of the internet. As my life is undergoing a fresh start, I figured my blog should as well. I suppose 2012 calls for more personal postings so that all of you can get to know me a little better and follow my personal journey as well as my professional one. Who knows? All I know is that it felt kind of good to clean up the blog today in preparation for starting fresh in the new year. My life and my business are kind of mirroring each other right now, and I’m left with a lot to be excited about, but I’ll stop there so that I have things to blog about later. Haha!

See you in 2012!
